Akrotiri, the most westerly point of Samothrace.

One of the most beautiful places on the island. Follow the route from the port of Kamariotissa to the windmill power generators, which for the present cover the island's energy needs at peak periods. When the generators eventually come to produce more than enough energy for Samothrace's needs, the surplus energy will be conducted through the underwater cable which is now being laid and will connect the island to the mainland.

Akrotiri (which means cape or promontory), a narrow tongue of land, gives you a panoramic view of Kamariotissa (see picture on opening page) and of the Saos peaks, as well as the opportunity to enjoy bathing on which ever side of the cape you prefer.
