![]() Pahia Ammos, as it is known locally, is the only sandy beach on the island. It is, however, a good 15 km from the port of Kamariotissa and there is only connection by public transport (bus) in the summer. The road is tarred. To get there you must pass the turning off to the right just before Makriliès, then you have to follow the narrow uphill road to Lakkoma and the even steeper road which passes through the village. Don't worry, the first time it's always a hair-raising experience! At Pahià Ammos you can bathe and there is one restaurant and a beach bar in the surrounding area. Here you may rent rooms. Some people camp on the beach even though this is strictly forbidden for reasons of environmental protection. Those who wish to camp on the island may choose between two official sites. an organized site and a free style site. |

To get an impression of what you can acoustically expect during the season, I
inserted a small bit of techno music into the page. At least you can get
rid of this sound on this side and deactivate it... So, if you do not yet have heard, turn your speakers on and turn please to full volume. Outside the season there are no couches or sunshades as well as no restaurant
and beach bar are open, but you will have the possibility to listen exclusively
to nature itself, instead. |
