Have you observed this button, already?
This button is a hint, that a webpage offers a so-called RSS feed. You
will see it being very small in the address input bar of your browser, that
means the place where you can edit:

But what is an RSS feed? The abbreviation stand for Really Simple
Syndication feed. OK, that is indeed very nice, so far ...
But that is not a true help, is it? Therefore, here comes a small
explanation:
You are interested in Samothrace and you would like to know what is
happening no my internet site. Either it is the ferry's timetables, the
water temperature, or if there are any new pages added. Well, it is very
simple. You can go through all the pages and check if there was any update.
You say how? You don't have the time for this? I can understand this and
many others understood this as well. Smart programmers thought about it, how
you can realize to offer information about updates, without having to go
through all the pages. The result was the RSS feed and it might look like
this on your screen:

What do you have to do to get this information? There are several
possibilities, like extra applications (the so-called RSS reader) or a
plugin for your internet browser. I did it like this: my start page is
Google. You can personalize Google. On the top right of the Google page you
can find the term iGoogle. If you used it to the maximum, then "your" Google
can look like this:

I have inserted pictures of webcams, weather report graphics, weather
forecasts and several RSS feeds in iGoogle. Each time, I start my internet
browser all this information is updated automatically. To enable Google to
remember all this, you have to register on Google. After that, you can even
start this site on several PCs. Well, I hope your Google will be at least as
chic as mine ;-)
Now, we only have to return to www.samothraki.com and to select your
preferred language. As soon as done, you can click on the RSS button in the
address bar and you will be asked, if you would like to add the feed to
Google. If you agree and return to your Google, the feed will be inserted.
In the small triangle of the feed you can change the settings by clicking on
it. I propose to set the settings to 9. And now: have fun!
