O Psaras Fish Taverna

The catch of the day, near Therma beach

O Psaras ("the fisherman") is one of the island's few fish tavernas, on the main north coast road just before Therma harbour and beach. Nothing fancy: tables in a yard by the road, shaded by plane trees.

The fish isn't on the printed menu because it depends on the day's catch and the season, so ask what came in. Fish is priced by weight and some are big enough for two. It arrives grilled with oregano and ladolemono, the olive oil and lemon sauce. Other regulars include fish soup, grilled octopus in season, mussels, shrimp, squid, sardines and fried anchovies, with souvlaki or steak for those who don't eat fish.
