Taxis on Samothraki

The island has only a handful of taxis, and their rank is at the port of Kamariotissa, opposite the small harbour lighthouse. In summer they are busy meeting the ferries, so ask the driver for a number if you'll need a ride back, and share with other travellers when you can.

Other ways to get around

• Local buses leave from Kamariotissa port for Chora, the north coast villages and Therma, and the south-west villages up to Profitis Ilias. In high summer extra buses have run to Pachia Ammos and Kipos beaches.
• Car and scooter hire offices line the Kamariotissa seafront.
• Hitchhiking is common on the island, especially between Varades campsite and Therma.
