Samothraki's goats, on everything
In the island dialect, to gid' means "the goat", and this little shop in Chora is devoted to Samothraki's most famous residents. It opened in 2016 in an old stone house under a grapevine, on the narrow lane that runs down from the castle, just past the traditional bakery and before Meltemi café.
The owners first came to the island on holiday and now spend every summer here, designing the rest of the year. Their goats have become an island brand you'll see worn all over Samothraki.
What you'll find
- T-shirts and hoodies with goat designs and word play: a goat climbing Fengari, on a motorbike, on a bicycle and many more
- Caps, bandanas, bags, aprons and baby clothes
- Goat-milk soaps and creams
- Mugs, tsipouro glasses, magnets, notebooks and stickers
Opening
Usually open from late May to the end of September: mornings and evenings in early summer, and from morning until late at night from mid-July through August.
